This is the result of running off the road on a gentle bend (just a kink in the road), getting onto the grass verge, and then hitting a 12 - 18 inch deep drainage ditch. I think that I was caught out by an adverse camber and I couldn't get the bike to lean over quickly enough. I'm sure it wouldn't have been a problem on the much lighter and more flickable SV650 I had previously. Now I know which is the safer bike to ride! Perhaps I should have practiced counter-steering more!
