The parcel shelf is removable. Lift the carpet in the luggage space and then lift up the cover underneath to see:

That's the intercooler radiator and fan on the left. The engine coolant radiator is at the front, along with the air conditioning radiator.

To help show how short the car is, here's a photo of my motorbike and car parked side by side. The car is about 14 inches longer than the bike. The bike has the bigger and more powerful engine, but the car is more economical on fuel!

My brother was also impressed with Smart cars, so he bought one too, same colour!

I've now upgraded to a RHD model. They say this is phat red, but it looks more like orange to me (it was raining when I took this photo):

So far my best fuel consumption per tank full (using about 16 litres) is 65mpg, my worst is 53mpg, and I normally get about 57.5mpg (in US gallons that's about 54mpg, 44mpg, and 47.9mpg). Update - over the winter months, and having to drive in long traffic queues due to roadworks, it has dropped down to 50mpg (still pretty good for the worst fuel consumption!).
